Zion National Park in Winter |
"Lovely snowflakes, they fall no where else!"
~Zen saying~
Living in Las Vegas it is usually about this time of summer mid August that I get very tired of the heat and look forward to the winter months. Zion is absolutely beautiful in the winter as is Springdale the town right outside of the park. The East side of Zion usually gets some pretty good snow as does the canyon floor from Angels Landing to the Temple of Sinawava and of course all the mountain peaks. There is something about Springdale that feels so much like home to me. I love the small town feel especially in winter when the crowds of the summer tourists are gone. I also love the fact that you can drive your own car through the Zion Canyon Scenic Drive instead of taking the bus. If I had a chance to change where I live I think Springdale comes to mind as one of my #1 choices.
If you get a chance to travel to Zion in the winter months, the end of November through February I would say go for it. There is just something about Zion and a good cup of hot chocolate that go together.
First we need to visit Zion in the fall. Usually the last couple of weeks of October until the first week of November is the prime time for fall colors.
