My wife and I drove through the night in a torrential downpour to get to this magnificent landmark. A towering landmark it is rising nearly 1,583 feet above the high-desert of Navajo Nation.
The Navajo call this Tse' Bit' ai'
I loved this place and the surrounding area and hope to go back to photograph more. There are so many beautiful rock structures.
Located in Shiprock, New Mexico, USA
Tse' Bit' ai' is of great religious and historical significance to the Navajo people. It is mentioned in many myths and legends of the Navajos. It is against the law to climb Shiprock. Please abide by the humble religious requests of the Navajo people.
