Mesa Arch

Mesa Arch sunrise. Canyonlands National Park, Utah

I posted a couple of new photos on Facebook yesterday and noticed a spike in viewers on my blog so I guess I better get on the ball and post some photos here also. Trying to play catch up with so many things after the Christmas Holidays I apologize.

So this is Mesa Arch in the Canyonlands National Park in Utah. On this particular morning December 6th, 2013 it was 7 degrees F/-14 degrees C. Serena my wife, myself and one other photographer were the only ones there to enjoy this sunrise. Mesa Arch is a very easy 5-10 minute hike from the parking lot.

This is not a great photograph but I am using it to demonstrate a point. Serena standing and another photographer sitting. Normally when you go for a sunrise shot at Mesa Arch there would be 20-30+ photographers lined up from the photographer sitting to where I took this shot. The prime place to be is about where Serena is standing. Make sure you get there early enough to put your sticks down to hold your spot! It's about 45 minutes to 1 hour from the town of Moab depending on how fast you are driving.

One hour after the sunrise photo I took it started to snow and the sun was gone!

I hope you are enjoying my blog posts. Thanks for stopping by and looking. Happy New Year to you and your family!
